Cait Chief Briefs Hh The Amir On National Cyber Security Strategy
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Bayan Palace on Monday Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and Chairman of the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) Salem Al-Uthaina.
During the reception, they explained Kuwait’s 2017-2020 national cybersecurity strategy aiming at setting out a roadmap for promoting information security and taking all relevant necessary measures.
His Highness the Amir hailed those who in charge of the strategy which is considered a pioneering step in the cybersecurity field, wishing them more progress and success.
The audience was attended by Advisor at Amiri Diwan Mohammad Dhaifallah Sherar.
Following the meeting, the CAIT chief said he briefed His Highness the Amir on Kuwait’s 2017-2020 national cybersecurity strategy, which is based on three core pillars: vision, mission and goals.
He elaborated that the strategy is primarily intended to promote the culture of cybersecurity which supports the safe and right use of the electronic space, to protect and control vital assets and facilities as well as national information, and finally to create cooperation and coordination and information exchange.
This national strategy reflects the .Kuwaiti government’s realization of the size of threats and challenges triggered off by cybersecurity risks which affect the state and its institutions and agencies.
It sets out a roadmap for promoting the security of information in all its forms with a view to harnessing all potentials and capabilities and taking all required measures in this regard.
The strategy also clarifies the future vision and main goals of cybersecurity in the State of Kuwait, and defines strategic priorities meant to achieve these goals.
The vision of this strategy is to ensure a safe and flexible electronic space with the goal of protecting Kuwait’s national interests.
Its mission provides for creating and bolstering the national cybersecurity system with all its technical, organizing, supervisory and administrative elements at different public and private institutions and agencies.
Its goals mainly include protecting cybersecurity culture, safeguarding and controlling vital assets and facilities, national information and information network in the State of Kuwait, and providing aspects of cooperation and coordination and information exchange among various local and international agencies in the cybersecurity domain.
