Number of cafes in the Farwaniya, Hawalli and Khaitan areas, cafes which are usually crowded and difficult to get an empty place at the end of the weekends and official holidays, found deserted.
One of the workers at Al-Ruwwad café in Khaitan area, Walid Tawfiq, mentioned that the decrease in the number of customers to the cafe is due to fear of being infected with the Coronavirus, it is expected that the customers will further decrease in coming days.
When one of those sitting at the cafe, Ismat Tahsin, was asked why he was present and not afraid of being infected with the virus, he said, “We will only suffer from what God has written for us. The cafe is for me and for my friends with whom I sit daily after the work to forget my troubles.” The reason for sitting alone, he said, “I waited for my friends with whom I sit every day to play dominoes, but nobody came from them due to their fear of getting infected.”
The state of cafes in the Farwaniya area was very similar to the cafes in the Khaitan area, the customers decreased by almost half.
A worker in one of the cafes, Atef Ramadan said, “This cafe that I work in and the cafe adjacent, their tables one hour before the discovery of coronavirus infection cases in Kuwait were fully booked, and today as you see the numbers are few and we expect to see further decrease when more infection cases will come to light.”
