Cabinet To Hold Extraordinary Meeting Tomorrow To Discuss Corona Committee Recommendations
The Council of Ministers will hold an extraordinary meeting tomorrow, Monday, under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, to discuss a number of recommendations made by the Ministerial Committee for Corona Emergencies aimed at tightening health protocols to ‘ward office’ the dangers of the new Covid-19 mutant Omicron and prevent its spread in the country.
Government sources told Al-Qabas one of the most prominent recommendations is to oblige those entering the country from abroad to make the first PCR test upon arrival, commitment to home quarantine for a few days, and make another PCR test before ending home quarantine period.
The sources said the meeting will stress on the need to honor health protocols, especially in closed public places such as hotels, malls, cinemas, transportation, weddings halls and restaurants.
In the event the visitors are found not respecting health precautions, the owners of the establishments will be held responsible for ensuring commitment of these health protocols.
The sources added the “Omicron” cases will inevitably increase in the country, which is but natural matter because the mutant has spread over 89 countries around the world, and preventing its entry needs to close the land and air ports, which is not expected to be done in the current situation, but its risks will be reduced through the third dose and commitment to health measures.
The sources stated the “Corona Emergency Committee” will be attended by personnel from the Ministry of Interior, Health and the Municipality to control the process of health requirements such as wearing masks, mobilizing efforts to fight the spread of “Omicron” and taking legal measures against those who do not adhere to health requirements in any vital place.
