Cabinet To Decide Today On Transition To The Next Stage

23 July 2020 Kuwait

The Cabinet will meet today to discuss the transition to the third stage of the return to normalcy plan, which was supposed to start last Tuesday, reports Al Qabas. Informed sources revealed to the daily that there are two ministerial teams, the first wants to wait before transitioning to the third stage on the basis of health reports on the developments of the coronavirus spread, and the second is pushing towards a time commitment to the announced stages while tightening health requirements to avoid the dire economic effects of the suspension of business activities. This is especially in the absence of direct government support for the affected businesses so far.

The cabinet will decide whether or not to move to the third stage of the gradual return to normalcy plan that was adopted on May 28. The plan includes basic criteria for the transition from one stage to another based on 4 medical indicators, namely rate of transmission of infection, stability of infection numbers for a sufficient period, and a low percentage of the patients in intensive care and in hospitals, in addition to the decrease in the coronavirus infection percentages in the daily press briefings.
