Cabinet Official's Spokesperson Confirms Gradual Plan For Expats’ Return
Cabinet spokesperson and head of the government contact center, Tariq Al-Marzam, expressed his satisfaction at the existence of a gradual plan for the return of expatriates. While briefing the press after the cabinet meeting, Tariq said that some state departments have already requested the committee on COVID-19 to allow expats to return to the country.
Tariq confirmed that the lifting of the ban on 32 countries was based on the opinion of the Ministry of Health. While answering a question about opening the land borders, Tariq linked his response to the health authorities. He added in his response: "We are still waiting for the Ministry of Health's instructions and the extent of its readiness to reopen the land borders." He added that the land borders were already open to food imports and trade.
On whether he hopes to lift the partial curfew on Sunday, Tariq advised people to be careful, because the virus is still spreading and the infection rate is increasing as well. "Therefore, we call for complete caution and the implementation of all precautionary measures, and we urge all citizens and residents to contribute to achieving this," he concluded.
Quarantine week
The local population in Kuwait also learned that the Ministry of Health may consider reducing the quarantine period to a week, compared to 14 days. There is a proposal looking at the proposal submitted by the relevant agencies of the Ministry of Health and awaits a decision by next week.
It was also learned that the Ministry of Health’s proposal to suspend the salaries of the medical staff stranded outside the country and allocated to those who were intentionally stranded took time before returning to the country. It was found that the Ministry of Health began submitting and submitting requests for exemptions for employees abroad.
