Butcher Shops See Big Demand For Meat, Prices Are Affordable
The butcher shops are witnessing a big demand for meat from citizens and residents and the prices are believed to be affordable to a large extent, thanks to the control mechanism put in place by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to prevent unwarranted hike in meat prices, while the more than fifty stores selling meat in the meat market are subject to the terms and specifications issued by the Kuwait Municipality and the Ministry of Health, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Every outlet must be committed to cleanliness inside and outside the store, in addition to adhering to proper storage of the meat inside refrigerators and the carcasses must carry the seal of approval.
The daily monitored the prices, the situation in the market, and the types of meat that consumers would accept. In this regard, the owner of the butcher shop Abu Muhannad said the demand is increasing for Arab meat, and some prefer to buy half a sheep, and some of them prefer to buy a whole sheep due to the current health conditions, so they do not prefer to go to the sheep market while some consumers resort to Kuwaiti meat, followed by Australian meat, which some prefer due to the low fat in it. He added, the prices of meat vary according to their type.
Arab meat is sold for 4.5 dinars, while the Iraqi meat is sold for 3.5 dinars, the Australian 2.750 dinars. He pointed out that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry oversight of the meat markets prevented the increase in the prices of meat products.
