Q8 Inaugurates 1st High Power Charging Stations On Belgian Motorway Network

Q8, the trademark brand for Kuwait Petroleum International’s fuel stations in Europe, has made history by inaugurating the very first High Power Charging Stations for electric vehicles on the Belgian motorway network.

Q8, in partnership with IONITY Company launched the Charging Stations on the Belgian motorway in Thieu, between Paris and Brussels, 50 kms from Brussels, in the presence of Kuwait’s ambassador to Belgium, European Union and NATO Jasem Al-Budaiwi, Belgian and EU officials and representatives of the European energy and car industries on Thursday afternoon. IONITY, based in the German city of Munich, is a joint venture of top carmakers BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche. Its goal is to build an extensive and reliable 350 kW High-Power- Charging network for electric vehicles in Europe to make comfortable longdistance travel an everyday reality.

The charging stations in Belgium is part of the EUROP-E project, which is co-financed by the European Union. “I am privileged to take part today in the inauguration of the first of its kind in Belgium electric station operated solely by Q8” Al-Budaiwi told KUNA. “I am very honoured that a Kuwait company is taking lead in this field. We are observing the future today. This is where the market is going to be geared and I want to congratulate the management of Q8 for thinking in an innovational way,” he said.

“ Our participation today comes in line with the activities of the embassy of the State of Kuwait does in Belgium to coordinate and cooperate with Q8 in helping it in its investments and plans and in achieving its strategic goals,” he added. On his part, Fadel Al-Faraj, Managing Director Q8 Northwest Europe, said “we are really proud of what we have achieved today. This is a great collaboration between the European Union, car manufacturers and Q8.
