Business-friendly Environment Gives Impetus To Development

It is imperative to provide an environment that is conducive for business and in turn, would encourage development projects and help diversify the economy, an official said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a panel discussion, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan noted that the Ministry of Commerce was eager to facilitate procedures related to small and medium-sized development projects.

Al-Roudhan, who doubles as Acting Minister of State for Youth Affairs, revealed that the ministry has set up an ad hoc committee tasked with ensuring a proper environment that would lure entrepreneurs and eliminate any impediments to fledgling businesses.

Al-Roudhan also spoke of a growing penchant among many young Kuwaitis to dabble in small and medium-sized development projects, which have become increasingly significant.

Moreover, he added that many entrepreneurs are often deterred by certain legislation that need to be amended, or else, pursuing such projects can be a daunting task.

The panel discussion, attended by bodies from across the government spectrum, detailed the intricacies behind small and medium-sized development projects, including the private sector's contributions to such endeavors.
