More than 200 individuals were rescued from a tenstorey residential building in Farwaniya area after fire broke out in the basement of the building. According to sources, when the Control Room of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate received information about the fire, firefighters rushed to the location, analyzed the situation and formed two teams. While one team evacuated more than 200 tenants, most of who were sleeping, from the building, the other team entered the basement and extinguished the fire. They discovered that the basement was used for storing furniture and sponges. KFSD urged owners of buildings and real-estate to avoid using such places for storage purposes if it can lead to the death of people and damages to their properties. It affirmed that those who do not abide by the rules in this regard will be referred to the concerned authorities for strict action against them.
