An Indian MP said that at least 100 people were trapped under the rubble of a five-story building that collapsed yesterday in an industrial town in western India.

The 200 residents of the building in Mud, 165 kilometers from Mumbai, India’s financial capital, were not all inside the building at the time of its collapse,” Bharchatt’s local deputy, Maruti Jujawali, told Reuters.

“I think 100 to 125 people were inside the building at the time it collapsed, said Gugaoli at the scene"

Maharashtra State Police in the west of the country says the building contains about 47 apartments. The authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the collapse and the number of victims, but rescue teams and local residents have rescued nearly 30 people.
