British Woman In Dubai Says 'f*** You' To Flatmate On Whatsapp, Gets Jailed For 2 Years

In a bizarre incident, a British woman is facing two years in jail in Dubai for sending a message that said 'F*** You', to her flatmate, as per a report in the Sun.

The 31-year-old woman's WhatsApp argument came in a row over who would use the dining table while working from home in October, during the lockdown last year. But the female Ukrainian housemate secretly lodged a complaint with police, claiming she was offended.

The expat human resources manager was barred from leaving the strict Muslim emirate when she tried to fly to the UK last week. She now faces jail or a hefty fine as the flatmate refuses to withdraw the complaint.

As per the report, she has no cash and nowhere to live while on bail awaiting trial. The woman, in Dubai since 2018, had sent her belongings home in advance and planned to join her partner and family to start a new job.
