MP Hesham Al-Saleh submitted a bill on amending Cybercrimes Law number 63 for the year 2015; particularly the cancellation of stipulations on defamation crime or offending the dignity of individuals due to difficulties in defining the crime and remand due to cybercrimes. The bill allows the Public Prosecution to impose maximum of three weeks police surveillance over an accused, if the need arises.
The bill also specifies the deadline for implementing the prison sentence imposed on anyone who commits the crimes stipulated in the law, such that a prison sentence is cancelled if it is not executed within two years if the period of imprisonment is three years and within five years if the period of imprisonment is more than three years.
