Bangladeshi Expats Can Renew Their Residency Without Submitting Fingerprints

In an order from the Ministry of Interior, the department of residency affairs was instructed to exempt Bangladeshi workers from attending in person with their sponsors to document their fingerprints during residence renewal.

Around 258,000 Bangladeshis live in the country, including 86,000 domestic workers, 99% of whom are men. In the past, Bangladeshi nationals were required to attend in person to document their fingerprints to ensure their true identity as stated in their passports to avoid forgeries as well as verifying their criminal records.
