Ban On Fresh, Frozen Bird Meat Import From Ghana, Togo

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) announced a ban on the import of all types of “fresh, chilled, frozen and processed bird meat of all kinds and its derivatives and products and eggs thereof from the republics of Togo and Ghana due to the outbreak of highly pathogenic ‘H5’ bird fl u, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Secretary of the Supreme Committee for Food Safety at the PAFN, Adel Al-Suwait, said in a press statement, the committee had recommended, at its sixth meeting of 2021, to ban the import of all types of fresh-chilled-frozen-processed meat of all kinds and its derivatives and products from the Republic of Kenya, due to the outbreak of Rift Valley Fever virus.
