Bal Salama Platform To Be Discarded By The Cabinet Satisfies Domestic Labor Recruitment Offices
The Cabinet has issued decisions stating that the "Kuwait Musafir" and "Bal Salama" platforms for domestic workers, as well as the "Mina" system for accrediting foreign laboratories for the issuance of PCR certificates, are no longer required, which will help domestic labor recruitment offices meet their needs.
According to Al-Jarida, the Cabinet's decision is gratifying since the country is returning to normalcy, and it will have a beneficial impact on the labor market and newly hired workers, particularly domestics.
Bassam Al-Shammari, a domestic labor expert, thanked the Cabinet and government agencies for responding to office owners' demands to shut down the 'Bal Salama' platform, emphasizing that the decision will have a significant impact on the domestic labor market, especially given the severe shortage currently in place, and will speed up the pace of recruitment from abroad, as well as increase the appetite of workers to come to Kuwait.
He told "Al-Jarida" that the decision's most notable positives were the reduction in recruitment costs after deducting the institutional quarantine expenses, which were 240 dinars, in a way that eases the financial burdens on those who wish to use this labor's services, indicating that after the quarantine is canceled, there will be no additional recruitment costs other than airline tickets, and conducting a PCR examination for those who are gullible.
Regarding the lifting of the quarantine imposed on workers who entered Kuwait last week, before the decision to stop work on the platform took effect, Al-Shammari said that "some office owners demanded that those in charge of "safety" cancel the quarantine imposed on these workers who entered the country before the decision was implemented, but the authorities refused and said they must adhere to the 14-day quarantine period," noting that there was a case whose workers entered the country before the decision was implemented, but the authorities.
He restated his appeal for the cabinet decision to be activated, with the quarantine imposed on newly recruited domestic employees being lifted and the workers being handed over to their employers upon their arrival in the country, as well as the restrictions put on new workers being lifted.
For his part, Nayef Al-Mazal, the owner of one of the recruitment offices, expressed his satisfaction with the decision to stop working on the "Safety" platform, emphasising that it is a true reflection of the stability of the country's health situation, as well as the beginning of the decline of the fourth wave of the epidemic, amid the recent decisions by the Council of Ministers to return to normal life and ease restrictions on travel and recruitment of workers and allowing gatherings.
"Local offices have suffered greatly in the past period from the scarcity of foreign recruitment requests, and the reluctance of workers to come to Kuwait, preferring other neighboring countries, due to the difficulty of recruitment procedures imposed by the concerned authorities, in addition to the many obstacles placed by countries exporting or receiving labor in the wake of the outbreak of the pandemic," Al-Mazal told Al-Jarida, stressing that the decision to stop exporting and receiving labor was made.
He noted that all evidence point to a return to normalcy, noting that protocols for the recruitment and usage of civil and domestic workers were in place before the outbreak of the pandemic and that the number of infections among domestic workers arriving in the country has decreased noticeably.
