Bail Rejected, Royal’s Hearing Set For Nov 12

31 October 2019 Crime News

The Criminal Court adjourned to November 12 the lawsuit filed by an officer of Ministry of Interior against a member of the ruling family, and dismissed the request for releasing the defendant on bail. Earlier, the Public Prosecution had charged the suspect with misuse of mobile phone, threatening the plaintiff, and posting offensive remarks in violation of the Cybercrimes Act.

The suspect denied all the accusations, insisting that he had nothing to do with the relevant audio clip. It is worth mentioning Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Lt Gen Khaled Al-Jarrah received the officer and asked him to go ahead in applying the law.

The officer then filed the lawsuit and the Public Prosecutor heard his testimony. The officer said he received a phone call from the accused Sheikh (the defendant) and the latter circulated a recorded part of the phone call via WhatsApp.

The Public Prosecution issued a decision to find and arrest the suspect, and the General Department for Criminal Investigations took a voice sample of the suspect to determine if his voice was the one in the audio clip. The suspect denied the accusations, insisting that he was sleeping at the time when the crime was committed, and he has no idea who took his mobile phone
