Bahrain To Deport Foreigners For Violating Covid-19 Isolation Rules
A Bahraini court passed rulings against a total of 34 people for violating rules of domestic isolation as part of measures to contain the spread of the new coronavirus in the kingdom, a prosecution official has said.
The decisions were issued by the Minor Criminal Court including fines ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 Bahraini dinars against the offenders and a deportation order for three foreigners among them, prosecution chief Adnan Al Wadai added.
Health authorities had earlier notified the public prosecution that the 34 defendants had violated the precautionary home isolation. Police investigations and an electronic surveillance system proved their departure from their residences during the mandatory home isolation.
In an unrelated case, the court ordered a restaurant to pay a fine of BD5,000 for failing to comply with anti-coronavirus precautions including checking customers’ temperatures before entry into the place and for accepting clients without advance reservations, Bahraini newspaper Al Bilad reported.
Bahrain has reported so far a total of 63,189 virus cases and 217 related fatalities.
