Bad Roads Repairs First – Capital, Hawally Priority Denied
Official Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Public Works Iman Al-Omar on Friday refuted reports claiming that roads of the governorates of Assima (Capital) and Hawally were given a priority. “The Ministry has contracts for the maintenance of roads in each governorate and every contract has its own timetable,” Al-Omar said in a statement. She added the most affected highway roads would be given priority to be followed by those less affected ones.
She pointed out that road works were being implemented on the Sixth Ring Road to be followed by the Seventh, Fahaheel (Road 30), Maqwa and Fifth Ring Road. Meanwhile, Kuwait Municipality has refuted plans for levying a fine of KD 5,000 (USD 16,000) on unlicensed car parking shades belonging to nationals or residents.
Regulations for parking do not include this sum as a fine, Deputy Director General of the Municipality Faisal Jomaa said in a press statement on Wednesday. He explained that there are proposals currently studied by the legal administration, in accordance with the Law of the Municipality No. 33 of 2016. The fine imposed against violators is determined by judicial bodies in line with the Municipality Law, he noted. Jomaa stressed keenness of Municipality on rights of all nationals to get easily licenses
Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior stated the renovation of major roads in the country began with awareness campaigns launched at the beginning of the month in cooperation with the General Traffic Department and Ministry of Public Works to share special information about the closure of roads with the general public, especially motorists and pedestrians. In a statement, the sector said that maintenance works over the past three says covered Maghreb Motorway opposite Mansouriya and Qadsiya areas, and only the right lane and shoulder of road were closed, while the closure of Arabian Gulf Street started at midnight from the Third Ring Road intersection to Haroon Al Rasheed Street in Shaab area. It noted the work will continue during official working hours if necessary from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, urging motorists and pedestrians to follow the official “Instagram” page at “MOI -kuw” for further information
