Auction Of Local Fish Returns To ‘normal’

19 October 2020 Business

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced the public auction for the sale of local fish will return to what it called ‘normal’ beginning from Saturday, immediately after the noon prayer. However, the auction for the imported fish will be as it has been the custom over many years, reports Al-Rai daily.

The head of the Kuwaiti Fishermen Union, Zahir Al-Soyyan, praised the Ministry of Commerce for adhering to the request of the fishermen concerning the fish auction inside the Sharq market explaining the auction of the imported fish will be in morning after dawn prayers and the auction for the local fish will be in the afternoon as it was in the past before the auctions were stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Al-Soyyan said the Fishermen’s Union is keen to provide local fish and shrimps to the consumer and said the auction date is suitable for the consumer and the fisherman. However, the union said everyone must respect the health requirements in line with the decisions issued by the health authorities and the Council of Ministers. Al-Soyyan indicated the auctions are held under the watchful eyes of the concerned authority.
