April Inflation Rate Pegged At 3.12%

The consumer prices on annual basis grew by 3.12 percent in April, according to the State of Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau. The bureau, in its monthly report issued on Monday, said inflation rate dropped 0.17 percent in April, on Monthly basis, due to decline of prices of some main groups that influence movement of the key indices. The consumer price index (CPI) for the clothing group rose 6.03 percent on yearly basis, while rates of housing services rose by 0.09 percent. Moreover, inflation rate in the furnishing equipment household increased by 4.07 percent.

The KCSB said the health index rose 2.09 percent while rates of transport moved up by 4.23 percent. Communication rose by 4.36 percent, recreation and culture by 7,83 percent while education dropped by 15.46 percent. Restaurants and hotel climbed on yearly basis in April by 0.24 percent, services and miscellaneous goods by 4.9 percent. Food and beverages dropped by 1.63 percent, in April compared to March, due to decline of prices of sea food and fresh vegetables.
