Appeals Delays Hearing In Kuwaiti Woman Murder Case
The Criminal Section in the Court of Appeals, headed by Judge Nasr Al-Haid, postponed until Sept 30 the first hearing on the case of an individual accused of murdering a citizen identified as Farah Akbar. The Court of First Instance had earlier sentenced Akbar’s alleged killer to death by hanging. The higher court postponed the first hearing as it needs more time to review the file of the defense panel after appointing new lawyers and summoning six witnesses
The accused, who came from the Central Prison, appeared in court along with his lawyers Dokhi Al-Hasban and Fahd Al-Basman; while the victim’s side is represented by Attorney Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan. Meanwhile , the Misdemeanor Court adjourned to November 17 a case of disclosure of information related to current and pending cases at the the courts. This case was filed against 26 individuals including bailiffs in the Ministry of Justice, lawyers and legal associates.
The Public Prosecution had charged 13 of the defendants, who are public servants, of disclosing information about cases that are open in the courts where they work. Through this act, they violated the confidentiality of the cases they handle, and published such information in various social media forums. The other defendants were charged with participating in the crimes committed by the 13 defendants either by aiding them to commit the offense or by publishing the leaked content and misusing their phones to commit this crime.
