Appeals Cuts 10-years Jail To Acquittal
The Court of Appeals, headed by Judge Nasr Al Haid has acquitted a Kuwaiti and an Egyptian consultant working in a lawyer’s office for paying bribe to an employee from the investigations department. The lower court had earlier sentenced both men to 10 years imprisonment each with hard labor. On the other hand, the same Appeals Chamber has set July 8, 2021, to look into the falsification report of the Jahra Club minutes of the meeting to issue a verdict.
The Criminal Court had earlier sentenced the Jahra Club president Nawaf Jadid and the secretary-general of the club to 12 months in prison with labor and fined each man 1,000 dinars to suspend the enforcement of the sentence. The case was filed by the Kuwait Sports Authority accusing the suspects of forging the minutes of the meetings of board of directors which had led to the dissolution of the board of directors. The court also acquitted six members of the board of directors. Two members of the club’s board of directors, Mohammad Al-Enezi and Walid Al-Salama had allegedly resigned (with reason) from the board of directors and filed a complaint with the Kuwait Sports Authority and the authority referred the issue to the Public Prosecution.
