Annual Budget To Hire Doctors, Nurses And Technicians To New Hospitals Amounts To Kd 32.16 Million
The annual cost of bringing in doctors, nurses and technicians to new hospitals amounts to KD 32.16 million, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.
In the past fiscal year, the Ministry of Health had written to the Ministry of Finance to cover this cost, which included the salaries and bonuses of 3,255 expatriate employees, including 680 doctors and 2,575 nurses and technicians by including their services on the bonus item.
Note that the budgeted amount for fiscal 2019/2020 to hire 680 doctors is KD 12.4 million, KD 15.6 million for about 2,000 nurses and 4.1 million for 575 technicians.
A decision was issued by the Council of Ministers on July 23, 2018 stating the possibility of the Ministry of Health to contract the required positions of doctors, nurses and technicians within the limits available to them in the budget for the financial year 2018/2019 according to priorities and the actual need of the new hospitals.
Moreover, the Ministry of Health, when it was not possible to cover the cost of the posts requested in the budget for the financial year 2018/2019 and to identify those requirements in support of its request coordinated with the Ministry of Finance to submit draft bill for additional amount for this purpose. The Ministry of Finance studied the matter and responded to the Ministry of Health on Nov 21, 2018, and approved the necessary funds, which is for the remainder of the financial year 2018/2019, in accordance with its request.
