07 June 2022 Crime News

Reuters reports that Kuwaiti authorities have revoked a woman's earlier 10-year jail term for torturing her housemaid to death, and instead have sentenced her to three years in prison.

According to Al Anba, the court had upheld the defendant's husband's one-year suspended sentence in the same case for mistreating the victim as her sponsor.

A case concerning human trafficking, abuse of a housemaid and the confiscation of her passport arose in 2020. Both defendants were accused of human trafficking and abuse of the housemaid.

It was alleged that the helper was fatally beaten by the prime defendant.

According to her lawyer, during the investigation, it became evident that his clients had not planned to kill the housemaid and she had not been charged with premeditated murder. Final verdict.
