An Expatriate End-of-service Benefits Breakthrough Is Expected

28 August 2022 Expats

An upcoming resolution to the "problem of paying end-of-service benefits" to foreign workers whose employment were terminated by government organizations as part of the five-year Kuwaitization plan is anticipated.

A number of employees whose benefits have not been paid in more than two years, according to the sources, have petitioned the Ministry of Finance to be granted permission to use funds from the 2022–2023 budget to pay end-of-service benefits for expats. The sources noted that there are indications that some of the funds will be made available, particularly given that the item is updated in the budget for 2022–2023 and that the Kuwaitization plan mandates paying expatriates whose services have terminated their dues.

The issue of paying out end-of-service benefits to foreign employees has undoubtedly stumbled in recent years, particularly in light of the high rate of non-Kuwaiti employees being let go from government agencies at the same time that the Civil Service Council's decision to determine the rates of Kuwaitization of jobs came to an end.
