13 August 2017 Crime News

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah sent a cable on Saturday to Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, where he heaped praise on security forces for their diligence that led to arrest of 12 convicts who were on the run.

In his cable, His Highness the Amir said that he was confident that authorities’ unwavering fortitude and steadfast efforts would bring the convicts who remain at large to justice.

He also thanked citizens for their cooperation with security forces and wished the country continued security and prosperity. Several lawmakers have lauded the Interior Ministry securitymen for the efforts they exerted in arresting 12 Abdali cell convicts, calling for continuous efforts to arrest two convicts who are still on the run.

MP Faisal Al-Kandari praised the entire ministry, headed by Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah, who confirmed the arrest of 12 Abdali cell convicts. He also highlighted the vital role played by the officers in maintaining security of the country and proving wrong those keen on thwarting security efforts.

He pointed out the minister confirmed more than once that the securitymen are working hard to arrest the fugitives. He urged everyone to ignore rumors aimed at serving personal interests. He said the arrest of 12 convicts is a clear and explicit response to skeptics as the security authorities worked calmly and silently to surprise everyone.

He also stressed the need to hold accountable those who helped the convicts escape and those who tried to cover up the case. “We have full confidence in the Ministry of Interior. We continue to support them because they work day and night to maintain the security of our country,” he added.

MP Rakan Al-Nisf commended the securitymen for gaining confidence of Kuwaitis through the arrest of the fugitives. He asserted the securitymen have proven once again their ability in dealing with such issues, as they already won the trust of citizens when they dealt with the terrorist bombing of Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque two years ago.

MP Hamad Al-Harshani praised the securitymen for arresting the traitors; indicating this serves as a lesson for anybody who wants evil for Kuwait regardless of his sect, tribe or family. He added Kuwait is a country of blessings and humanitarian gestures under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and God always lets down anybody who wants evil for Kuwait. Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior revealed the names of the captured 12 Kuwaiti convicts of the terror group known as “Al-Abdali cell,” who went missing last month.

A ministry statement said the convicts were apprehended in different parts on the country, while the search is ongoing for two more individuals.

They are: 1- Mohammad Jaafar Abbas Haji (10 years’ sentence). 2- Mohammad Hassan Abduljalil Al-Husseini (10 years’ sentence). 3- Mahdi Mohammad Sayed Ali Al-Mousawi (10 years’ sentence). 4- Jafaar Haidar Hassan Jamal (10 years’ sentence). 5- Youssef Hasan Shaaban Ghadhanfari (10 years’ sentence). 6- Hussein Juma Mohammad Al-Bathar (10 years’ sentence). 7- Hassan Ahmad Abdullah Al-Attar (10 years’ sentence). 8- Abbas Issa Abdullah Al-Moussawi (10 years’ sentence). 9- Issa Jaber Abdullah Baqer (10 years’ sentence). 10- Basil Hussein Ali Al-Dashti (five years’ sentence). 11- Hassan Ali Hassan Jamal (five years’ sentence). 12- Ali Abdulkarim Ismael Abdulrahim (five years’ sentence).

In September 2015, the Public Prosecution indicted those and others for acts that threatened national security and unity. The defendants were accused of providing intelligence to Iran and Hezbollah, as well as housing weapons, ammunition and communication devices. In another development, MP Ahmad Al-Fadl blamed the government for many parliamentary threats to grill ministers.

He said that at the beginning of the current Parliament’s term, the lawmakers were against submission of grilling requests at the start of the tenure of the incumbent government because they wanted to give the government ample time to work. After eight months, no one should criticize the MPs if they intend to grill erring ministers, he concluded.
