15 May 2022 Kuwait

By December 2022, the oil industry plans to start operating the Al-Zour refinery. The Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) is preparing for this historic event right now, since the Al-Zour refinery, with a daily refining capacity of 615,000 barrels, is one of the world's largest.

According to a local Arabic newspaper, the refinery comprises three micro refineries that are being built at the same time. The world's biggest complex of desulfurization units, each mini refinery has an atmospheric distillation unit, a residual oil desulfurization unit, and a diesel, naphtha, and kerosene hydrotreating unit.

The Al-Zour Refinery produces 340,000 barrels of high-quality petroleum products per day and supplies 225,000 barrels of environmental fuel oil per day to the country's power units.
