Airfares Skyrocket For Cairo-kuwait Direct Flight

The Kuwait-based Travel and Tourism offices say the Egyptians may opt to return to Kuwait via transit in the face of the exorbitant hike in the fare of direct flights.

Reliable travel and tourism sources told Al-Anba daily, some Egyptian airlines charge 500 dinars per ticket for direct Cairo-Kuwait flight.

In the face of this, the sources say, the travel and tourism offices will encourage the returning Egyptians to take ‘transit’ flights which will be much cheaper than direct flights. However, the same sources say direct flights are expected to lure Egyptians despite the significant high costs.

The sources suggest the ticket costs for direct flights from Egypt will be higher this month and early next month at least — because the schools are set to reopen — and are expected to decline over time.

Meanwhile, the sources say, the Egyptian airlines, led by EgyptAir, has started booking passengers for flights to and from Kuwait as of next Monday, at prices starting from 460 dinars for one-way Cairo-Kuwait sector while a one-way ticket to Kuwait-Cairo costs around 112 dinars per passenger.
