Air Conditioning Is A Problem At 20% Of Government Schools

09 April 2022 Kuwait

Education sources bemoan what they call the air conditioning crisis in government schools, claiming that about 20% of schools are still experiencing issues with some air-conditioning units, with students continuing to complain about the hot conditions inside the classrooms due to air-conditioners that aren't working properly, have broken down completely, or aren't being serviced.

According to a local Arabic daily, the situation is giving some Ministry officials a headache, despite the fact that one of the companies' air-conditioning contracts expires in March 2023 and the other in May 2023, and there are still schools with a shortage of air-conditioning maintenance, raising several questions about the reasons for the delay in repair.

She highlighted that the responsibility for following up on maintenance contracts rests with the maintenance engineers, who are responsible for ensuring that the contractor completes the job as specified in the contracts and punishing those who do not comply with the contract's terms and conditions.
