Adultery Case: Explicit Photos Of Wife With Another Man
The Court of First Instance, presided over by Judge Ahmad Al-Yassin, ordered a Kuwaiti woman to pay temporary civil compensation worth KD 5,001 to her exhusband after she was convicted and sentenced to prison in a ruling issued by the Court of Cassation, after it was proven that she had betrayed her husband. Representing the husband was Lawyer Maryam Al-Bahar, who explained her client and his wife have four sons together. He started noticing that his wife was behaving strangely, as she was getting many calls and receiving several messages on her phone, particularly messages from various social media platforms. When he questioned her, she claimed that they are just online friends. One day her client returned home and found his wife’s phone. He browsed through the phone and saw explicit photographs of his wife with another man.
This prompted him to file a complaint against her for adultery. The Criminal Court had sentenced the woman to three-year imprisonment with hard labor, but the Court of Appeals decided to amend the appealed sentence and instead sentenced her to two year imprisonment and ordered the suspension of the ruling for three years, provided she pays bail bond of KD 500 and pledges to maintain good conduct. This ruling was upheld by the Court of Cassation.
Lawyer Al-Bahar stated that she demanded in the civil lawsuit for the payment of KD 5,001 as temporary compensation to her client, after the defendant was convicted of adultery and having sexual relations with someone other than her husband. She said the deterrent rulings, whether criminal or civil, against the ex-wife of her client will not stop, and there is a claim for compensation in the amount of half a million dinars for the psychological, material and moral damages inflicted on her client, adding that there are other rulings issued to drop her custody of her children and not be entitled to the expenses.
