Activities And Categories That Are Exempt During Oman Lockdown

As Oman entered the second day of total lockdown with strict surveillance in force, only emergency cases are permitted by the Royal Oman Police (ROP), apart from categories that are exempted from the movement ban.

Below is the list of the activities and categories of people exempt from the total lockdown. which will continue till July 23.

Among the facilities that are exempt include hospitals, health centres, government and private clinics, pharmacies, bakeries and laundry shops that have government contracts for regular service and supply, tyre and vehicle repair shops inside fuel stations, fuel stations, shops selling and repairing pumps and modern irrigation systems, electrical and sanitary materials (by appointments only without opening the shop), as well as food testing laboratories and Oil and gas fields, airports and ports,

Among the categories of people who are allowed during the total lock down include health and medical care staff, pharmacists, livestock keepers and farmers between 5am and 11am, fishermen, workers in tyre and vehicle repair shops inside fuel stations, shift workers in the banking sector who are required to be in the work place, workers in fuel stations on duty, workers in public and private press and media institutions, workers in the relief and shelter sector, and shift workers in specialised insurance, freight and customs clearance offices.

Vehicles that are exempted during the lockdown period are transportation buses for workers in factories working round the clock, transport vehicles for bakeries and laundry (that have government contracts), emergency service vehicles for electricity, water, communications, roads, public hygiene, vehicles for transporting gas cylinders and water tanks, and trucks above 3 tonnes.
