A Total Of Six Volunteer Teams Lose Their Licenses To Collect 'ramadan Donations'

08 April 2023 Ramadan

In an article published by Al- Jarida daily, the Ministry of Social Affairs reports that six volunteer teams have violated the rules regarding donations during Ramadan by soliciting donations to help people break the fast. As per the sources, the volunteer teams cannot act independently and donations must be collected under the umbrella of one of the well-known charity societies after getting approval from the Ministry.

Based on the sources, it appears that the aforementioned teams violated this rule, and the Ministry will take strict legal measures against them that could result in the loss of their license and referral to the Public Prosecutor. To ensure the seriousness of the project being collected, the teams that wish to participate in the donation collection process must submit an application to the Ministry, along with the project to be collected. As a result of the regulations for organizing volunteer teams, a temporary bank account can be opened for this purpose by the team.

It has been reported that the inspection teams spotted about 5 funds in mosques violating the law on collecting money for public purposes, and a report was prepared to prove the case, and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs was asked to take action, pointing out that the funds collected by these teams had been confiscated. It was reported that dozens of “kiosks” were monitored during the last week and the ministry worked with the Kuwait Municipality to remove them, pointing out that the most common area to find these “kiosks” is in the Jahra Governorate.
