A Total Of 667,000 Kuwaitis Live Without Private Housing
As reported by Al-Qabas daily, the Follow-up and Performance Department of the State Audit Bureau issued 11 reports on government agencies, which included recommendations and evaluations of their efficiency and effectiveness during 2022 and previous years. It includes observations from a number of government agencies, including reminding the Public Authority for Housing Welfare that 667,000 citizens lack private housing.
As part of the report, the efficiency of investment activity and administrative systems associated with the Awqaf Trust is evaluated, along with the effectiveness of the Ministry of Education in implementing development plans from 2015 to 2020. The Kuwait Oil Company tanks are also evaluated in terms of their efficiency.
A number of evaluations will also be conducted by the Ministry of Communications, including the efficiency of postal services, the effectiveness of the National Center for Education Development, the ability of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) to provide food security, the efficiency of the Ministry of Commerce's automated supply management systems, as well as the Zakat House's investment activities.
Following up on the efficiency and effectiveness of the automated supply management systems in the Ministry of Commerce revealed noncompliance with health, security and personal safety requirements, violations of some outlets, and a lack of coordination between Supply and Environment and the Food Authority.
Due to their continued non-residency within the country, the report called for an automatic linkage of the supply system with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to follow up on citizens on scholarship abroad, and to stop the disbursement of subsidized food items to them. Further, it is important to update death data by linking it with civil information, and to include a mechanism to validate domestic worker ration card registrations.
