A New Report On The Theft Of Sand And Gravel Revealed
A new report on the theft of sand and gravel worth 40 million dinars was revealed by the Al- Qabas yesterday, which coincides with the decision of the Director- General of the Kuwait Municipality to refer the report of the working team which was formed to detect the sites in Al- Subbiya to the Municipality’s Legal Affairs Department for investigation, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The theft of the sand has opened up other dimensions through other ‘multi-million dollar’ thefts involving a well-known contractor in the country carrying out huge infrastructure projects. An informed source said the supervisory team, when inquiring from the director of the concerned department about issuing licenses allegedly provided false information.
The source pointed two sites that were assigned in Al-Salmi to two companies, one of which was used as garage to repair cars and the other was used as a dumping ground to store stolen sand and gravel.
The source revealed that an agreement was signed between one of the companies that is implementing one of the contracts of the Ministry of Public Works for the design, construction, completion and maintenance of roads, sanitary wagons, rains and services for a new road in the Subbiya area. The other party is the relative of an official in the Kuwait Municipality for securing 13 million cubic meters of sand and gravel.
