26 February 2022 Crime News

In Kuwait, a shepherd has lost his hand after a landmine exploded, resulting in an injury dating back to the 1990 Iraqi invasion.

After the incident in the desert area of Al Metlaa in the Al Jahra governorate in west Kuwait, the man was transferred to an intensive care unit, as stated by Al Anba.

Age of the victim is not known.

According to reports, the incident happened as Kuwait observs its 31st Liberation Day, which marks the expulsion of Saddam Hussein's troops from Kuwait after a nearly six-month occupation.

Kuwaiti media recently reported that invading forces had left behind explosive devices.

A cluster bomb dating back to the Saddam invasion was accidentally discovered in the desert area of Kabad in Jahra by torrential rains in Kuwait in January.

Another explosive from the invasion era was defused in Al Metlaa by a Kuwaiti army team in January.
