A Global Price Increase Prompts Companies To Raise Poultry Prices

14 May 2022 Kuwait

There are a number of poultry producers requesting the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry allow them to raise poultry prices, in line with the global price rise and rising costs.

According to a local Arabic daily quoting sources, these companies justified their request to increase prices citing the recent rise in food prices, which is about a 40 percent increase, in addition to the effects of Ukraine's war on global markets and supply chains, pointing to the rise in frozen poultry prices having become noticeable in some varieties.

In the sources' testimony, Ukrainian poultry exports, which are the sixth largest in the world, ceased as usual, causing a rise in demand on the Brazilian market that led to a 10 percent increase in prices.

In light of the sharp competition between different countries to meet the needs of local markets, and Brazil's growing European imports, Brazil has emerged as one of the world's leading suppliers of frozen poultry to Kuwait, the Gulf states, and Europe.
