On Wednesday, the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto confirmed the deaths of a Filipino-Canadian woman and her daughter in a horrific stabbing attack in a North York, Ontario car park.

While in a car, Elvie Sig-Od, 44, and her daughter Angelica Sig-Od, 20, were fatally murdered by her ex-husband Godfrey Sig-Od.

Following a fatal stabbing on Friday afternoon near Bathurst Street and Ellerslie Avenue, Toronto police have identified the victims.

According to Canadian media, 46-year-old Godfrey Sig-Od was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

An official said the victims' bodies would be repatriated to the Philippines.

Consul General Orontes Castro said the Philippine Consulate in Toronto will coordinate the repatriation of the remains of the mother and daughter who were both Canadian citizens when they died.

Philippine News Agency quotes him as saying, "The Consulate General will continue to follow this case accordingly. The Philippine government extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family."

Before her father stabbed her and her mother to death, Angelica Sig-Od was studying at Seneca College.

According to her LinkedIn page, the 20-year-old's dream was to "travel to different countries to discover, learn, and experience different cultures."

According to Marvin Dolores, the pastor of Elvie's church, the victims have no family in Ontario. Therefore, he has created a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for their repatriation.

Because they have no relatives in Ontario to arrange their funeral, as their pastor, I decided to ask your help to raise funds to provide them with a decent funeral and send their bodies to the Philippines."
