Department Approves New Kuwaiti Passport With Magnetic Chip

General Department for Citizenship and Passport Affairs has approved the new Kuwaiti passport which will include a magnetic chip to prevent forgery of the passport, reports Al- Shahed daily quoting reliable sources. They revealed that the issuance of the passport is expected to start by the end of this year. The sources indicated that the new digitized passport, which is in line with the passport specifications of other GCC countries, will facilitate in obtaining data about the passport holder without any manipulation, revealing that the company, which has been contracted by Ministry of Interior for its issuance, has already starting working on the project after downloading the data of the citizens electronically.

They explained that the new passport will have the same cover, color, country’s logo and book. Its first page will contain all details of the passport holders, the third page will be allocated for the information and photographs of maximum four companions, and the other pages for visas. A thermal photograph of the passport holder will be included in the passport along with a barcode which will help in easy retrieval of the holder’s important information.
