75 People Died Of Drug Overdose In Kuwait

Seventy-five people have died of drug overdose in Kuwait over the past ten months of this year (2019).

The list of drug overdose victims between January and October included 35 Kuwaitis and 40 expatriate addicts of different nationalities.

According to a security source, morphine overdose was the main cause of drug addicts’ death.

Other addicts died after taking overdoses of Benzodiazepine, amphetamines, Shabu (methamphetamine), and Hashish (cannabis).

According to the same security source cited by Alqabas newspaper, most of the victims among the drug addicts are aged 23 to 35, followed by the category of addicts aged 36 to 50, then 18 to 22 and 51 to 60.

Last year, a total of 116 addicts hailing from different nationalities died of drug overdoses.

The anti-narcotics authorities foiled many attempts to smuggle large quantities of drugs, particularly amphetamine pills.
