A big number of import shipments are for cleaning materials, sterilizers and materials used in medical applications. According to the monthly statistics prepared by the administration, during the past month 15 new licenses were issued for the import of chemicals, as well as 30 licenses for listing new materials on licenses to import chemicals, in addition to the renewal of 6 licenses.

It is noteworthy to mention several procedures preceded the process of releasing shipments, whether for export or import, including analytical tests on materials for compliance with the regulations, standards, and licensing granted to companies. The chemical tests section of the Analytical Laboratories Center at the authority conducted checks on 1,582 containers at Shuwaikh port, 792 in Al-Shuaiba, 1510 in Al-Nuwaiseeb, 112 in Sulaibiya, and 110 in Doha. Meanwhile, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Khalifa Musaed Hamada revealed that 55 chalet contracts were signed during a period of 100 days from January 1 to April 11 this year, reports Al-Rai daily.

n response to a parliamentary question submitted by MP Marzouq Al-Khalifa regarding chalet contracts, Hamada indicated that it is not permissible to mention the names of the beneficiaries of those chalets in order to preserve the privacy of others. He attached his response with a list of the chalets’ numbers, the location, area, and date it was obtained, and it included the contracts of chalets that are located in several areas such as Nuwaiseeb, Al-Dubaiya, Zour, Bneider, Khairan, Mina Abdullah, Subiya and Doha. The areas varied from 290 meters up to 4,000 meters. The reasons varied between acquisition and relinquishment of the chalet.
