5,000 Kd Fine And 5 Years In Prison For Assaulting A Police Officer
A police officer assaulted while doing his duty will be dealt with legally by the Ministry of Interior.
In recent days, several incidents of abuse against police officers have been reported.
A member of the police force who is assaulted while performing his duty with the intent of obstructing or resisting him will be imprisoned for a period of not more than 5 years and fined not more than 5,000 dinars, or any combination thereof.
The punishment for assaults that are committed verbally or with gestures is imprisonment of less than two years and a fine not higher than 3,000 dinars, or any combination of these.
To maintain the public's trust, the Ministry of Interior urged residents and citizens to abide by the law.
