5 Companies Probed In Human Trafficking

The security authorities have referred five companies to the Public Prosecution for trafficking in humans, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

During investigations, the security authorities discovered the companies had issued fake visas to about 2,000 workers, an offense which is punishable by imprisonment and heavy fines up to hundreds of thousands of dinars.

The sources said the security services focused on combating these crimes based on instructions issued by the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah under direct supervision of the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Issam Al-Nham. During investigations the security authorities discovered a large number of these workers were hired either by closed companies or others which had no premises.

The Interior Ministry has this year, until now, has referred to the Prosecution about 10 cases which have hired a large numbers of laborers some of whom have already entered the country and others still to arrive
