350,000 Civil Cards Given Out Since Last March

The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) have distributed an estimate 350,000 civil id cards for citizens and expats that have completed the renewal process since last March, reports Al Qabas.

A source familiar with the matter said that the issuance started according to the priorities and storage capacity of the devices that can hand out 5,000 cards. He noted that since PACI resumed work two weeks ago, about 24 percent of the total cards stored before the coronavirus crisis was presented to the holders. He pointed out that about 60,000 citizens and expats have yet to go to the authority to receive their cards, and added that the authority is about to expand the issuance of ready-made cards, and destroy the old ones in case their owners do not receive them.
