3,000 People Arrested For Drug Related Cases In 2021

Around 3,000 people were arrested during the year 2021 for various drug related cases. This includes 1,500 citizens, 800 people of undetermined nationality, 300 residents of Egyptian nationality, and the rest of them belongs to Syrian, Lebanese, Indian, Bengali and Pakistani nationalities. Authorities also deported 866 expatriates for drug related cases.

The General Administration for Drug Control, during the year 2021, seized approximately 1,700 kilograms of hashish, which is the largest amount seized in one year period. In addition to this, about 10 million pills and various psychotropic substances were also seized during the year 2021.
