3 Grilling Threats Waiting For Next Assembly
The use of grilling as a constitutional tool for lawmakers has been heating up the political scenario as the date of convening the third round of the 15th legislative term is approaching, such that the outcome of grilling threats by three lawmakers is being anticipated. One of the grilling requests was submitted against HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah by MPs Mohammad Al- Mutair and Shu’aib Al-Muwaezri.
This grilling contains four points. Last week, MP Riyadh Al-Adsani announced his plan to submit a grilling request against Minister of Information Mohammad Al-Jabri if he fails to deal with the farmland acquisition scandal at the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) before the National Assembly convenes.
He disclosed that 16 pages of questions will cover all aspects of the grilling. For MP Khalid Mohammad Al- Otaibi, the countdown to the grilling of Finance Minister Nayef Al-Hajraf on financial and administrative violations at Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) has begun.
He is expected to submit the grilling request at the beginning of the new parliamentary term, affirming he explored all possible oversight means but his efforts proved futile since Al-Hajraf took over supervision of KAC and even before Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh left the position. “Al-Hajraf has enough time to deal with the violations, starting from today until the last quarter of October,” the lawmaker stressed.
