29,000 Traffic Violations Issued By The Security Sector; 67 Vehicles And Bikes Impounded
Major Abdullah Buhassan, a Public Relations and Media Department officer for the General Traffic Department, said 29 378 citations were issued during the recent security and traffic campaigns, while 39 cars and 28 motorcycles were seized, and 41 violators were referred for serious violations to the General Traffic Department for prosecution.
Aside from these arrests, the police also referred 43 juveniles for prosecution for driving without a license. The authorities also seized 30 vehicles that were wanted by security and judicial authorities, and 14 individuals had been listed as wanted by law.
As previously reported by Buhassan, the campaigns were conducted under the direct instructions of Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh, Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs at the Interior Ministry, and were overseen by Lieutenant Colonel Yousef Al-Khadda, Assistant Director-General for Traffic for Licensing Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, the Traffic Operations Department ranked first in terms of recording violations, reaching 9,087 violations. Next was the Capital Traffic Department, which recorded 5,992 violations, followed by the Hawalli Governorate Traffic Department, which recorded 4,127 violations.
In addition to 1,762 violations, 283 security and traffic operations and a referred vehicle to the detention yard, the General Administration of Emergency Police arrested 3 people wanted by law, 23 individuals without ID and 25 expatriates whose residence permits had expired; five drivers arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol were also arrested.
Bualhassan reported that the Rescue Police Department was able to impounded 8 people who had been wanted by the judiciary, as well as seizing 4 cases involving drugs.
