29,000 Traffic Violations And 27 Reckless Driving Arrests

Traffic security campaigns to prosecute negligent people and perpetrators of serious violations last week resulted in issuing 29,615 traffic violations, impounding 128 vehicles and 4 motorcycles, referring 27 violators to the General Traffic Department’s custody, 13 juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution, and the seizure of 9 vehicles wanted by security and judicial authorities. Also, the arrest of 14 persons was wanted by the General Administration of Criminal Execution and the Civil Execution Department, Al Jarida reported.

The Public Relations and Traffic Awareness Officer in the Department, Major Abdullah Buhassan, said that the Ministry of Interior’s Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh asked the Traffic Departments, the Traffic Operations Department, the Emergency Police General Department, and the General Department of Central Operations to intensify the security presence and launch campaigns against the reckless in various

Buhassan pointed out that the traffic patrols in the traffic departments in the six governorates, in addition to the Traffic Operations Department, the Special Tasks Department and the Traffic Investigation Department implemented these instructions on the ground.

He pointed out that the weekly statistics issued by the traffic operations sector showed that the Hawally Governorate Traffic Department ranked first in registering traffic violations with 7,184 violations, and the Traffic Operations Department came in second place and recorded 6,846 violations, followed by the Capital Traffic Department with 5737 violations, then the Farwaniya Traffic Department 3,192 violations were recorded.

And he indicated that the Ahmadi Governorate Traffic Department came after that, with 2,489 violations recorded, then the Jahra governorate with 2,184 violations, followed by the Traffic Tasks Department, which recorded 1,177 violations, and finally the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Traffic Department, which recorded 806 traffic violations.

The statistics showed that the traffic patrols were able to arrest 13 juveniles driving vehicles without obtaining a driver’s license, and they were referred to the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the Juvenile Police Department, in preparation for their referral to the Juvenile Prosecution.

Buhassan stated that the General Administration of Emergency Police carried out 655 security operations during the past week, recorded 1,403 traffic violations, and dealt with 66 traffic accidents, as well as dealing with 45 people without identity proof, and dealing with 8 quarrels, and seizing two cases of drug abuse.
