261 More Pakistani Medical Workers To Help Fight Covid
The new batch of Pakistani medical workers will arrive in Kuwait next week to support the national teams in dealing with the corona outbreak, reports Al- Jarida daily. Reliable health sector sources revealed to the daily that the new Pakistani batch – the third – consists of 261 specialists; including doctors, technicians and nurses.
Sources explained that the Ministry of Health will soon complete procedures for the entry visas of the team and then send the visas to them within this week. Sources added the team includes medical and nursing teams specialized in intensive care, anesthesia, chest diseases, respiratory diseases and infection control.
Sources disclosed the Pakistani medical staff will enter the country through the ‘Lukum’ system. Source said the team will work for a period of three months, after which their appointment will be extended for another three months if the ministry will appoint them once their contract ends to continue their services in dealing with the pandemic.
Sources added two batches of Pakistani medical teams consisting of 468 doctors, nurses and technicians arrived earlier to support and assist the national health professionals in dealing with the virus. Sources said the first batch included 208 specialized doctors; while the second included 260 doctors, technicians and nurses. Sources affirmed that for more than a year, the national medical teams have been playing a vital role in addressing and confronting the pandemic; thereby, gaining the praise of the World Health Organization, as well as other international and regional health organizations.
