The General Administration of Civil Aviation announced that air cargo planes are excluded from the decision to suspend commercial flights to and from Kuwait International Airport, which will continue until January 1.

The spokesman for civil aviation, Saad Al-Otaibi, said that the suspension decision will be subject to continuous review in light of new matters.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Travel and Tourism Agencies, Muhammad Al-Mutairi, revealed to Al-Qabas that about 25,000 tickets will be canceled after the decision to suspend flights to and from Kuwait.

Al-Mutairi added that the total losses that will affect the travel sector during this period amount to about 2.5 million dinars.

Complicated steps

Al-Mutairi said that the mechanism for retrieving tickets passes through several stages and steps, as the period for retrieving tickets for travelers takes about 60 days, given that the financial payments of tourism and travel companies are linked with the airlines, and thus it takes a long time to complete the retrieval processes.

He said that the tourism and travel sector is bleeding due to the flight ban with several countries, and the suspension of the airport now, saying that the decisions have caused an economic disaster for offices in general.

In this regard, a responsible source told Al-Qabas that the traveler is entitled to recover the value of travel tickets and hotel reservations during the suspension period, regardless of the reservation conditions, whether they are refundable or non-refundable, with a fee deducted with a small amount of money as service fees for travel and tourism offices for each travel ticket.

London trip

In addition, the last flight arrived from London yesterday morning, carrying dozens of citizens, before the General Administration of Civil Aviation's circular regarding placing the United Kingdom on the list of countries prohibited from entering the country directly.

A number of citizens told Al-Qabas that the majority of the returnees are students and the elderly, confirming that all comers underwent a medical examination inside Kuwait International Airport with taking PCR swabs, while obliging them to quarantine for 14 days.

The citizens agreed that the health conditions in London are witnessing confusion after the emergence of the mutated Corona virus, explaining that many Kuwaitis want to return on the last trip, but time did not help them.
