20,000 Civil Id Cards Distributed From 5 To 16 July
Director of the Production and Distribution Department at the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) Jasim Al-Madhen affirmed the increase in the number of pre-reservation dates by barcode to 500 appointments per hour starting next Sunday, in order to increase the civil id cards distribution numbers, reports Al Rai daily. The number of civil id cards handed out to visitors from 5 to 16 July was approximately 20 thousand civil id cards, through 45 distribution outlets in the main headquarters and Jahra branch.
The extension of working hours to six in the evening and the cooperation of the visitors who adhered to the appointment system and health requirements, helped to reduce crowding in PACI building. The increasing of the number of appointments to 500 per hour, which contributed to speeding up the acceptance process, and there are 90,000 civil id cards stored ready for delivery, and 440,000 cards ready for issuance.
Visitors are encouraged to ensure that their civil id card is ready for delivery before they visit the PACI building. They have to review their status on the authority’s website or call the telephone number 1889988, and then book the appointment. PACI and the efforts of its employees are doing everything in their power to ensure the safety of the visitors, especially as it operates with a30 percent capacity in adherence to a Cabinet decision.
The director of the Civil Registry Department at the Commission, Mohamed Al-Shamali, revealed the opening of a hall for people with disabilities, who can enter with a disability certificate or card from the Disability Authority. He explained that the hall is equipped with everything that helps the disabled to complete their transactions, without any suffering and as soon as possible, He pointed to the opening of another hall for the elderly people, who are over 65 years old, to complete their transactions.
He explained that the two halls complete all the transactions, according to an employee system that processes all the transactions, to alleviate the suffering of the elderly and people with disabilities.
Al-Shamali added that the working hours were extended from the first two periods from nine in the morning until one in the afternoon and the evening period from two in the afternoon until six in the evening, according to the appointment system and commitment to social distancing and wearing masks in the interest of the health of employees and visitors. The two halls received 950 visitors from last Sunday to the end of Thursday’s working hours, he noted.
